6 Midwood Science students move on to the finals for Terra NYC

Congratulations go out to the 6 Midwood Science seniors who were announced as finalists in the Terra NYC STEM Fair. They now go on to compete again Saturday, March 23 at New York University's Tandon School of Engineering. Wish them all good luck as they hone their presentation skills over the next two weeks.

    Project: The effect of thermal stimulation on body ownership
    Mentor: Dr. Shimon Edelman in the Psychology Department at Cornell University
  • Katelyn Martinez and Magaly Mendoza
    Project: Analyzation of PM2.5 chemical correlations in classrooms using x-ray fluorescence
    Mentor: Dr. Terry Gordon in the New York University Grossman School of Medicine
  • Alejandro Velasquez (Midwood) and Darren Chen (Brooklyn Tech)
    Project: Investigation of physical properties of a novel zinc chloride-butyramide deep eutectic solvent
    Mentors: Dr. Sophia Suarez and Prof. Domenec Paterno in the Physics Department at Brooklyn College
  • Joshua Coleman
    Project: Animal fertilizer helps plants grow faster than normal fertilizer.
    Supervising teacher: Mr. Glenn Elert

Terra NYC is an International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) affiliated event sponsored by Terra Science and Education, a non-profit organization that sponsors regional science fairs across New York State.
