On Saturday October 29, 2005 St. Joseph's College held a High School Science Competition sponsored by the New York Section of the American Chemical Society. Midwood sent 9 students to the competition and brought home 3 Awards.
- Jane Yee and Kerry Li
received a 1st place award for their team project "Identification of Receptor Dimerization of a Novel Platelet Cell Adhesion Molecule in Physiological Platelet Activation". They worked with Dr. Elizabeth Kornecki, of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. - Daria Zainullina
received a 2nd place award for her project "Biochemical Characterization of a Chromatin-Derived Ternary Complex and Its Implications on HIV-1 Expression". She worked with Dr. Camilo A. Parada of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. - Yuliana Léon
received honorable mention for her project "Computational Analysis of Myth4 Domains in Myosin Proteins". She worked with Dr. Shaneen M. Singh of the Biology Department at Brooklyn College.
