2005 Siemens-Westinghouse Science and Technology Competition

The Siemens-Westinghouse Science and Technology Competition is a national research competition in the sciences and mathematics for high school students. Midwood had 3 semifinalists this year, more than any other high school in New York City.

Semifinalists

  • Yuliana León
    for her project "Computational Analysis of MyTH4 Domains in Myosin Proteins". She worked with Dr. Shaneen M. Singh of the Biology Department at Brooklyn College.
  • Jennifer Lien and Michael Vishnevetsky
    for their team project "Novel Cancer Therapeutics: Genetically Induced Expression of PNC-28, a Potent Antitumor Peptide Derived from the p53 Binding Domain of MDM-2". They worked with Dr. Josef Michl, of the Pathology Department at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
