New York City Science and Engineering Fair (NYCSEF)
NYCSEF is
the New York City Department of Education's annual science and technology research
competition, coordinated by the City University of New York's College
Now program. In February, 650 students from high schools across the city
met at City College to display their scientific research projects. The top
140 students advanced to the Finals Round in March and the top 18 go on to
the International Science
and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in May. Midwood sent five students to the Finals
Round this year with a sixth headed off to ISEF.

Siemens-Westinghouse Science & Technology Competition
The Siemens-Westinghouse
Science and Technology Competition recognizes remarkable talent early
on, fostering individual growth for high school students who are willing
to challenge themselves through science research. Through this competition,
students have an opportunity to achieve national recognition for science
research projects that they complete in high school. Midwood had 1 semifinalist
this year.
