New York City Science and Engineering Fair (NYCSEF)

NYCSEF is the New York City Department of Education's annual science and technology research competition, coordinated by the City University of New York's College Now program. In February, 650 students from high schools across the city met at City College to display their scientific research projects. The top 140 students advanced to the Finals Round in March and the top 18 go on to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in May. Midwood sent five students to the Finals Round this year with a sixth headed off to ISEF.

Siemens-Westinghouse Science & Technology Competition

The Siemens-Westinghouse Science and Technology Competition recognizes remarkable talent early on, fostering individual growth for high school students who are willing to challenge themselves through science research. Through this competition, students have an opportunity to achieve national recognition for science research projects that they complete in high school. Midwood had 1 semifinalist this year.

High School Poster Session at St. Joseph's College

On Sunday October 14, 2007, St. Joseph's College held a High School Poster Session sponsored by the New York Section of the American Chemical Society. Midwood sent 8 students to the competition and brought home 3 awards.
