2012 High School Poster Session at St. Joseph’s College

On Saturday February 4, 2012, St. Joseph’s College held a High School Poster Session sponsored by the New York Section of the American Chemical Society. Midwood sent 27 students to the competition and brought home 5 awards.

  • Tammy Jiang
    received a first prize award for her project "The role of SDF1-interacting proteins in collective cell migration." She worked with Dr. Stephen Lewellis and Dr. Holger Knaut at NYU Langone Medical Center.
  • Emilee Yang, Amanda Ye, and Jacinda Zhou
    received a second prize award for their project "Protein and lipid interactions of phosphoglycerate kinase 1." They worked with Dr. William J. Chirico at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
  • Amy Chen
    received honorable mention for her project "The roles of regulating adenosine receptors (A1R, A2BR) in preventing fatty liver through CLOCK Proteins." She worked with Dr. Hailing Liu at NYU Langone Medical Center.
  • Tianna Chin
    received honorable mention for her project "Construction, expression, and characterization of influenza M2e and FP recombinant fusion proteins." She worked with Dr. Lanying Du at the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute of the New York Blood Center.
  • Matthew Chin and Irene He
    received honorable mention for their project "Alpha, beta, and gamma power in the perisaccadic EEG." They worked with Dr. Muhammad Asim Javaid and Dr. Ivan Bodis-Wollner at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

January Meetings for Seniors

All seniors must meet with their supervising teacher at some time during this week (as soon as possible). Meetings should only last about 10 minutes. There are 3 purposes for this meeting…

  1. to discuss your NYCSEF Application Status
  2. to register for the St. Joseph’s College High School Poster Session
  3. to compute your final grade for the semester

Ms. Sullivan is available in the Dean’s Office (room 113) periods 3-7. If you cannot meet with her during these periods, please meet with me instead (room A214). I am available periods 3, 4, 7-10 (also period 2 on Wednesday).

    received a 2nd place award for their team project "In vitro Simulation of Immunological and Biochemical Attack on Pancreatic Cancer-specific Antigen, PaCa-Ag1". They worked with Dr. Josef Michl, of the Pathology Department at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

    received honorable mention for her project "Crystal Stucture of Multidrug Resistance Regulator NorR". She worked with Dr. Dinshaw Patel and Dr. Yu-Ren Yuan of the Structural Biology Department at Sloan Kettering Institute for Cancer Research.

    received honorable mention for their team project "The Effects of Estrogen, Iron and Their Receptors in Breast Cancer". They worked with Dr. Xi Huang of Public Health Laboratories.
